Short Film Festival Competition
ACSWA is hosting the National ACSA Conference at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre from 13-16 September 2009. You have the opportunity to submit a short film focusing on the aged and community care sector.The theme for the ACSA 2009 National Conference is "Get Up, Stand Up". And who can doubt that it's time for the aged and community care industry to stand up for their rights and the rights of the people they support? Consistent with the theme of the Conference, short films that challenge current thinking about older people and aged and community care are invited.
Your film can be either a:
1. Two (2) minute snapshot; or a
2. Five (5) minute mini-documentary

All entries must be received by 4pm, Thursday 30th July 2009.
Technical Requirements
All films should be prepared for 16:9 aspect ratio display. This means if your material is 4:3 it should be pillarboxed. The best way to ensure your film is in 16:9 (widescreen) is to set your camera to this setting through the menu. You can find out how to do this in your camera’s instruction manual. Please note that you should also ensure that your editing software is set to 16:9 widescreen when you import your footage.
Entries must be submitted on non copy protected DVD.
DVDs must be clearly labelled with Project Title, Entrant Name, Aspect Ratio and Running Time CLEARLY MARKED.
Judging
All entries will be judged by a panel convened by the ACSA Conference. The decision of the judges shall be final and no further negotiations will be entered into.
Finalists
The best film in each category will receive a $500 cash prize, plus an item of use for their workplace or aged care facility of their choice. The two winners will be screened at a special presentation during the Conference. All films entered will screen on a loop during the Conference.
Terms and Conditions
The general terms and conditions cited below are applicable to all entries in the ACSA 2009 Film Competition.
1. The ACSA 2009 Film Competition (“The Competition”) is conducted by Aged and Community Services Australia (“The Company”) and all rights and warranties granted to The Competition by each entrant are granted to The Company as the governing body for The Competition. The term “The Competition”, therefore, applies to Aged and Community Services Australia employees, contractors and volunteers.
2. A film shall be deemed to have been entered if it has been submitted in complete form to EECW by 4pm, Thursday 30th July 2009. Failure to supply complete submission materials may result in disqualification from entry. No entries will be accepted after Thursday 30th July 2009.
3. The Company is the sole judge of eligibility for these Awards and reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any Work to enter The Competition. Entries will be screened publicly as part of the ACSA 2009 Conference and any associated ACSA events at the absolute discretion of The Company.
4. Works may be entered into only one of the two categories.
5. The Company is entitled to rely entirely on the information supplied on the entry form and is under no obligation or duty to enquire further. Should The Company make enquiries relating to any entry, The Company is entitled to rely on and act upon or disregard the results of these enquiries at its discretion.
6. Each entrant is responsible for any written or verbal declaration it/he/she makes to The Company in connection with its/his/her entry and submission and is liable to The Company for any damage resulting from inaccurate, misleading or false declarations.
7. The entrant warrants and represents that it/he/she has obtained the non-exclusive rights necessary and now grant to The Competition the non-exclusive rights to exhibit the work, in part or in whole, to the public for promotional and publicity purposes relating to The Competition by any means, including but not limited to theatrical screenings including regional touring, television broadcast, DVD compilations, CD-ROM, mobile devices, internet, cable, satellite, microwave or by any medium not yet devised for purposes it sees appropriate including to link the work, or part thereof, to the ACSA Conference website www.acsa2009.com.au. The entrant hereby grants these rights to The Competition for a term of 5 years throughout the world.
8. DVDs cannot be returned.
